About Years Out
Every day, people Google questions like "quit job to freelance — was it worth it?" or "moved to Portugal two years later." They land on scattered Reddit threads and one-off blog posts. None of it is structured. None of it is updated over time.
Years Out fills that gap. People log a major life decision at the moment it happens, then come back over time — weeks, months, years later — to report what actually happened. The result is a compounding database of real longitudinal human data — not opinions, but reported outcomes from people who lived it.
Every story on this site is submitted by a real person. Every aggregate statistic is computed from those submissions. No content is manufactured, scraped, or generated.
Why we built this
The specific, timestamped human story — updated by a real person at multiple points in time — is structurally impossible for any AI to fabricate. Every update submitted to Years Out creates new data that did not exist on the internet before that moment.
